Security Engineer - Fortinet SD-WAN

Help AG is looking for a experienced Security Engineer who will be responsible for the implementation, deployment, and 
support of Fortinet Secure SD-WAN across the customer's global, multi-site network as part of the Global WAN Project. Working under the direction of the Senior Engineer / Team Lead, the role delivers site rollouts, configures and maintains SD-WAN and connectivity solutions, and provides day-to-day operational support to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing global connectivity.  The role suits a hands-on engineer with solid Fortinet experience who is comfortable executing designs, troubleshooting issues across the WAN, and supporting migrations and BAU operations within a team environment. 

 

❖ Deploy and configure Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and Secure SD-WAN in line with approved designs and standards. 
❖ Configure SD-WAN policies, IPSec tunnels, dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), and application steering/SLA rules. 
❖ Execute site rollouts and onboarding using FortiManager templates and zero-touch provisioning. 
❖ Provide day-to-day operational support, incident and problem management, and troubleshooting across the WAN/SD-WAN environment. 
❖ Perform monitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance using FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. 
❖ Support migrations from legacy WAN/MPLS to Fortinet SD-WAN. 
❖ Diagnose and resolve connectivity, performance, and configuration issues within agreed SLAs, 
escalating complex issues to the Senior Engineer / Team Lead. 
❖ Maintain accurate documentation — configurations, as-built records, and standard operating procedures. 
❖ Collaborate with the wider network and security teams to ensure reliable, secure connectivity. 

❖ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 
❖ Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering, with hands-on experience deploying and supporting Fortinet FortiGate solutions. 
❖ Practical experience with Fortinet SD-WAN configuration, IPSec VPNs, and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF). 
❖ Working experience with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for management, monitoring, and troubleshooting. 
❖ Experience supporting multi-site enterprise WAN environments and site rollouts. 
❖ Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, and network security concepts. 
❖ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
❖ Certifications preferred (or equivalent experience): Fortinet NSE 4 required; NSE 5/6/7 advantageous; CCNA/CCNP a plus. 
❖ Good communication and documentation skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
